Housing elderly and youngsters in Berca, Romania
Foundation Kinderen in Nood campaigned for the housing of elderly people as well as teenagers in the Romanian village of Berca. Father Daniël Necula, who invested a large sum of his own money in this project, started building a dining room. After that, he enlarged the existing two room building with the support of our foundation with extra rooms. Now the building offers on ground level housing for 24 elderly people. Upstairs rooms are created for teenagers.
The housing of elderly serves a dual purpose. It generates income from the local authorities. Nursing them offers an opportunity to a professional education for the teenagers from the orphanage in the neighbouring village of Sătuc
This project was completed in July 2011.
